Customers should carefully review individual tour details for group size information. As a rule, group tours from Chaska Tours take place with 2 - 12 tour participants. Is cancellation insurance offered? No, cancellation insurance is not offered by Chaska Tours. The insurance conditions in Colombia are inadequate and too expensive. For this reason, it is recommended to take out cancellation insurance from an insurance provider in your home country. This typically ensures better coverage and reliability in the event of cancellations or changes to travel plans. Are rental car trips offered? There are several reasons why we generally advise against rental car trips in Colombia and unfortunately do not organize them: 1. Traffic situation:Colombia has a challenging traffic situation, especially in urban areas. Traffic can often be hectic and chaotic, and road conditions can vary significantly from region to region. This can be stressful and dangerous for foreign travelers who are unfamiliar with local traffic conditions. 2. Road Conditions: The quality of roads and highways varies greatly in Colombia. While some major arteries are well maintained, many rural roads can be in (very) poor condition, which can make driving difficult. In some areas there is also a risk of landslides which may affect road access. 3. Language barrier: Road signs and information signs in Colombia are in Spanish. If you do not speak the language fluently and are not familiar with the local peculiarities, this can lead to misunderstandings and problems with navigation. 4. Security Concerns: Although the security situation in Colombia has improved significantly in recent years, there are still areas with security risks. Driving in remote or unsafe areas can pose a risk, especially for foreign travelers. The car must always be stored in secured parking spaces. 5. Alternative transport options: Colombia has a well-developed public transport system, including buses, shared taxis and domestic flights. These forms of transportation are often more reliable, safer and more affordable than renting your own vehicle. Private transfers are usually carried out using vehicles suitable for this route (sometimes 4x4 vehicles are necessary, etc.) 6. Below-average insurance conditions: The insurance conditions for rental vehicles in Colombia are generally inadequate. In the event of an accident or theft, coverage will be limited, which can result in significant financial burdens. This poses a risk, particularly for foreign travelers who may not be familiar with local insurance conditions. In international comparison, insurance is more expensive than average, but provides below-average coverage. 7. Poor service and long waiting times: In the event of breakdowns or technical problems with the rental vehicle, it can often take a long time for replacement or help to arrive in Colombia. The service quality and response times of local rental car companies are often unsatisfactory. This can cause significant inconvenience and delays, particularly in remote areas. For all of these reasons, we generally recommend avoiding rental cars in Colombia and instead resorting to alternative transportation options to ensure the safety and comfort of your trip.
