  • Day 1: In Search of Connection
The adventure begins early, around 7:00 AM, with a departure in a 4x4 vehicle from Santa Marta heading toward the town of Bonda, a region rich in history. Along the way, we visit an old chapel and an indigenous monument that reflect the cultural heritage of the Tayrona people. We then arrive at the sacred Donama stones, a mystical site of great natural beauty where we can connect with the spiritual and cultural traditions of the region.

We continue driving to the La Lisa area and take a short break before reaching the Boquerón station. From there, we begin a 30-minute ascent to 950 meters above sea level. At the viewpoint, we enjoy a panoramic view of the Sierra Nevada before starting a two-hour descent through forests and farmlands, offering encounters with local flora and fauna. Around midday, we reach the archaeological site of Bunkuany, where we explore ancient terraces, stone walls, and sacrificial sites that remain significant to indigenous communities today.

Following this cultural experience, we enjoy a traditional lunch in the midst of spectacular natural surroundings. In the afternoon, we continue hiking for about 4 kilometers until we reach Hotel Madre Sierra – a cozy accommodation where you can rest and enjoy the facilities.

Day 2: Hike to Teiku and Encounter with the Kogui Community
After breakfast, we begin a two-hour hike (6 km, with 370 meters of ascent and 150 meters of descent) through agricultural land and hills with impressive views of the Piedras River and the Sierra Nevada landscape. We enter Tayrona National Park via the Calabazo trail and ascend to the Kogui village of Teiku. There, a traditional lunch awaits us, followed by a guided tour with a community leader.

During the visit, we learn about traditional houses, lifestyles, cultures, sacred plants, and ceremonial sites. The experience concludes with a Pago ritual – a gesture of gratitude and protection – before we begin our journey back. If the weather is clear, we can admire the snow-capped peaks of the Sierra along the way. The hike ends back in Calabazo, from where we return to Santa Marta.

(During the closure periods of Tayrona Park, the itinerary may be adjusted accordingly.)
