In June, Chaska Tours had the privilege of representing the beauty, culture, and diversity of Colombia at a special event in Houston, Texas. As part of this initiative, Chaska Tours entrusted its tour guide, Milton, with the responsibility of representing the company internationally. Thanks to the generous invitation and hospitality of Mr. Paul Salamone (Pauls WorldWide Adventures), Milton traveled to the United States to introduce guests to the Huila region, the Colombian Amazon, and the incredible travel experiences our country has to offer.

The journey began on June 8, when Milton arrived in Houston and immediately received a warm welcome. During the first few days, he had the opportunity to meet several local residents, many of whom later attended the main event.

The main gathering took place on June 13 at Mr. Paul Salamone's home. Friends, neighbors, and guests came together to enjoy an afternoon dedicated to discovering Colombia's unique culture, breathtaking landscapes, and rich history. Food, drinks, and snacks created a relaxed and welcoming environment that encouraged conversation and cultural exchange.

During the presentation, three videos introduced guests to some of Colombia's most remarkable destinations, including the archaeological parks of San Agustín and the country's extraordinary biodiversity. The presentation emphasized that Colombia is far more than its best-known cities - it is a country filled with diverse regions, each offering unforgettable experiences for travelers.

One of the highlights of the afternoon was the traditional Sanjuanero costume from the Huila region, proudly worn by Milton to showcase one of the region's most iconic cultural traditions. The colorful attire immediately caught the attention of the audience, who were fascinated by its history and cultural significance.

Many guests asked questions about the traditions of Huila, its festivals, and the importance of preserving regional customs. These conversations created a wonderful opportunity to share the identity and heritage of one of Colombia's most authentic destinations.

Music also became an important part of the cultural exchange. During the presentation, guests learned about the quena, a traditional Andean flute that has been played for centuries throughout the Andes in countries such as Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Chile, and Argentina. The quena beautifully represents the cultural connections shared across the Andean region.

To complete the cultural experience, attendees enjoyed traditional panela sweets, premium Colombian coffee, and small gifts provided by Chaska Tours. These thoughtful details allowed everyone to experience a taste of Colombian hospitality.

For Milton, this experience represented an important milestone both professionally and personally. Being selected by Chaska Tours to represent the company, the Huila region, and Colombia abroad was a great honor and a valuable opportunity to promote destinations that deserve greater international recognition.

At Chaska Tours, we believe that every cultural exchange helps build bridges between people and inspires new journeys. By sharing our knowledge, traditions, and passion for Colombia, we hope to encourage more travelers to discover the incredible diversity of our country - from the archaeological wonders of Huila to the untouched beauty of the Colombian Amazon. Every journey begins with a story, and we are proud to continue telling Colombia's story to the world.
